One Laptop Per Child
Reaching 600,00 children

Founder: Nicholas Negroponte
When Apple created their first laptop, they built their entire strategy on the fact that laptops would only be used by corporate executives (those frequent flyers) on plane. Of course, the reality showed the opposite.

Talking about laptops, one social enterprise does a very good job in creating educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop (just USD $100 per laptop) with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning. This enterprise is called “One Laptop Per Child”.

“Many people say if a child is malnourished, he doesn't have drinking water, he's sick, why do you want to give him a laptop? Substitute the word 'education' for 'laptop' and you'll never ask that question again.”
Quote from Nicholas
